Changing Lives One Smile At Time
A special family service at Perry Beeches Baptist Church raises awareness and support for Smile Train

On Sunday 25th January 2026, Perry Beeches Baptist Church held a special family service dedicated to supporting the work of Smile Train — a global charity that provides life-changing treatment for children born with cleft lips and cleft palates.
The service was instigated by our own Brother Brian, who has a real passion for this charity and the life-transforming work it carries out across the world. His desire to raise awareness and support for this important cause encouraged the church family to gather for this special fundraising service.
The morning was truly a joyful and inspiring family service, led by our Sunday School children and youth leaders. The young people delivered a wonderful and creative presentation which included singing, poetry, and thoughtful reflections about the power and importance of a smile. Their performances helped everyone understand how something many of us take for granted can mean so much to a child born with a cleft condition.
The Work of Smile Train
Smile Train is the world’s largest charity focused on cleft treatment. For more than 25 years, the organisation has helped provide over two million free cleft surgeries for children around the world.
A cleft lip or cleft palate occurs when a baby is born with an opening in the upper lip or the roof of the mouth. Without treatment, children can struggle with eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking, and many face social stigma and isolation.
Through the generosity of supporters and churches around the world, Smile Train funds:
- Cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries
- Speech therapy to help children learn to speak clearly
- Dental and orthodontic treatment
- Training for local doctors and surgeons
- Nutritional support and medical care
Rather than flying in medical teams temporarily, Smile Train partners with local hospitals and trains medical professionals in more than 75 countries, ensuring children can receive care in their own communities.
This approach means the impact continues long into the future, helping thousands of children each year gain the chance to eat, speak, and smile with confidence.
A Wonderful Family Service
The service was uplifting, creative, and deeply meaningful. Through songs, poetry, and heartfelt presentations, our young people helped remind us that even a small act of generosity can change a life.
We are incredibly proud of our Sunday School children, youth leaders, and all those who took part, and we thank Brother Brian for bringing this important cause before our church family.
Together we were reminded that a smile is a powerful gift and through compassion and generosity, we can help give that gift to children around the world.
